The Bookish Box Review

I've never received any kind of subscription box before, but let me tell you, having this look out of the mailbox at me, might make a girl change her mind.

I found the Book(ish) Box on Instagram and saw that they had a special Harry Potter box coming up so I decided to go for it. Subscription boxes make me nervous for a lot of reasons. 1.) I'm poor, 2.) I always feel like they put cheap items in the boxes to make money for themselves, 3.) I am a planner and I need to know everything, so not knowing what I'm spending money on drives me crazy.
BUT having said that, knowing the box was going to be full of Harry Potter loveliness made me feel confident in buying this box, and I'm glad I did. First off, the Hallows on the side of the box are lovely, and when you open the box the first thing you see is this:

First was this shirt with a great Dumbledore quote on it. I ordered a unisex XL, and it fits OK. I'm debating changing it to ladies sizes, because the site states that they really looked for true fit womens shirts when buying. You can also pick a tank top or long sleeve.

Next was a realllly good smelling bag of Butterbeer bath salts. The whole box smelled like it and it made my room smell soo good too.

One of my favorite non-book quotes of all time is JK's
"No story lives unless someone wants to listen. The stories we love best do live in us forever. So whether you come back by page or by the big screen, Hogwarts will always be there to welcome you home."

So you can guess how much I loved this necklace.

Next was this awesome tumbler! Probably my favorite thing in the box.

and lastly a wonderful watercolor art. It's the perfect size to be easily framed and put anywhere. Love it.

My favorite thing about this box is I feel like the Book(ish) Box gives back to Etsy shops, which makes me feel good about where the money is actually going. These are business' you can continue to support if you want. and they tell you exactly where everything came from. I'm glad I bought this box, and I'm excited to see what next months box contains!!

Anyone else have boxes they love? Hit me up in the comments!

Harry Potter Awesome Art Roundup Vol. 6

I've been reloading and looking at the LeakyCon tickets page too much this week (y u so expensive con??) so I decided to try and funnel that energy into a different HP outlet. Thus, here we are at the 6th edition of Harry Potter Awesome Art roundup!

For starters, if you've ever wanted to own your own quidditch chest, now is your time. I got mine from Amazon and it's pretty cool. I wish it was all wooden and metal and such, but I will willingly settle for this as well.

I am a huge fan of the recently organized HP Zodiac Project, here's Remus Lupin (3.10.1960) - Pisces by geniusbee

her tumblr is filled with tons of awesome art, I love Oliver Wood to bits.

bloodyhellharry did a short comic of the time James saved Snape's life and I love it and it's awesome, go read the rest!

Also from BloodyHellHarry, HP+The Office mashups. "It is your birthday."

Reddit Gift Exchange: Cozy Toes, Sci-Fi, and Pens & Stationary

Hiya! I realized as Reddit sent me the link to sign up for the newest exchanges that I never posted my spring reddits! Without further ado, here are the three gift exchanges I decided to partake in.

First up was the Ultimate Sci-Fi exchange. My redditor really liked old school horror movies and mentioned he was looking at the Funko Pops for them. So, as a Pop collector myself that was pretty easy and I sent three of the Universal Monsters.

He didn't have them already which made me super happy, and also he seemed super happy so I'm glad I chose them.

In return from my santa I got a nifty TARDIS mug that changes color when hot water is added.

Next up was Cozy Toes, which was a slippers and socks exchange. Can I just say I never realized how hard it was to find mens socks and slippers that are cool?? The womens sections are always huge and then the guys section has like...brown and black. Dassit. So amazon was slightly helpful, and it had the best I could find. ThinkGeek had some but not in what my redditor liked. I decided to send socks instead of slippers because they're cheaper so I could send more than one thing within the $20 limit.

From my Santa I got some Doctor Who socks, HP socks, and some comfy slippers. I was pretty jazzed that I didn't have any of the stuff already (I tend to buy allll the thingsss when it comes to the Doctor and HP). They even put in a cute note and packaged it themselves, something I always regret not doing in favor of free amazon shipping.

Last up was Pens & Stationery 2016. My redditor is a writer so I really wanted to get an assortment of stuff that would make writing fun. She mentioned she liked seafoam green and fancy pens, but fancy pens were too much $$$. I found a bunch of pens and pencils in different styles and still had some budget left for small Moleskines in her favorite color. She really liked it and I was glad because this was her first exchange!

My santa sent me some beautiful TARDIS cards and sharpies, I can't wait to use them! I might actually frame one...

Overall it was a good three. This next session I'm scaling it back to just one exchange, Harry Potter themed!

Anyone else take part? share your gifts!

Jams of the Week - 5/10/2016

Hola amigos! Being second shift has really thrown me off my sleep game. Because of this I figured out MTV shows music at 3am - obviously that's when everyone wants to listen to music? No, no, it's OK MTV, just replay Ridiculousness again and again....

I will thank it for showing me this jam which is crazy and I love it. Rivers is awkward city and makes the video.

Earthquakey People - Steve Aoki feat Rivers Cuomo

"And honestly she ain't even gotta say much
I'll wait a whole day for that Midas touch
Minus the fact she's the finest eyelids could open to
My highness, I'd travel the world and back in hopes to glow with you"

Golden- Travie McCoy Feat Sia

BONUS video, follow up "Golden" with "Rough Waters" for some classic Travie and Jason Mraz.
Can't even lie, I watched alll the Gym Class Heroes videos after this.

I can't even tell you the number of times I've listened to this song these past two weeks.
Firstly, Dierks Bentley can get it. Secondly, I wish I was somewhere on a beach.
