Jams of the Week 6/21/17 Stiefvater Picks

Howdy and welcome to jams of the week!

I had a hard time finding some newer jams to share this week because I've been listening to audio books instead. One of my favorite books is The Scorpio Races by Maggie Stiefvater and deciding to listen to the audio book is one of the best choices I've made in recent time. I haven't been able to leave my car every day this week because I need to finish listening to the chapter or because I want to listen to the next. I literally know what's going to happen and I'm still on the edge of my seat. We've been having rainy weather making the story seem more magical and real and it's just so, so, so awesome.

Besides for being a kick-ass writer, Maggie has a tumblr where she posts art, questions, and music. Her picks are normally awesome and since she's the reason for my lack in jams I thought I'd just share some of her recent picks I loved.

To Kill A King - The Good Old Days
I don't remember the times that we fought
Or how you tore my world apart
Just the good old days

Lost Lander - Give It Time

SPELLES - Dead In The Water

If you want to check out some more jams and awesome other stuffs you can check out Maggie's tumblr here.

Until next time,
Maggie

Jams of the Week 6/14/17

Hola and welcome to jams of the week

I'm kind of obsessed with Tove's voice. I also think this video is all of us dancing to our favorite song in our bedrooms.
I also considered posting "Number One" which I like a lot as well, go check that out!

Tove Styrke - Say My Name

****

I used to be a huuge John Mayer fan but I kind of got turned off because he was constantly in the media for dating Taylor or Katy or whoever and he used to be a little obnoxious.
So I probably haven't loved an album since Continuum. I listened to this one track totally randomly in a playlist and remembered why I love John. I almost cried because I think everyone thinks about ending up like their parents or not being able to control your destiny.
Just a great, great song.

John Mayer - In the Blood

I know this is on the radio but it's constantly in my head.
Rihanna & Future's voices are great together.

Future Feat. Rihanna - Selfish

Till next time,

April Uppercase: Defy the Stars by Claudia Gray

Heya! I feel horrible because these unboxings are so late but I haven't been reading as much as normal sadly. I finally got to read Defy the Stars so I can tell you about this months box!

First all,  theliteraryllama does such a nice job photographing the box, I mean look at her wormhole background to match!

Included in the bag was the book (signed), a Defy magnet, an awesome bookmark and my favorite - a Harry Potter notebook. It also came with the read along codes so I could learn more about the authors thinking process and fun stuff.

Lots of great goodies this month!

If it wasn't clear by now, the book of the month was Defy the Stars by Claudia Gray. I haven't read anything by her before so it was a clean slate for me.

via Goodreads:

"She’s a soldier.

Noemi Vidal is seventeen years old and sworn to protect her planet, Genesis. She’s willing to risk anything—including her own life. To their enemies on Earth, she’s a rebel.

He’s a machine.

Abandoned in space for years, utterly alone, Abel has advanced programming that’s begun to evolve. He wants only to protect his creator, and to be free. To the people of Genesis, he’s an abomination.

Noemi and Abel are enemies in an interstellar war, forced by chance to work together as they embark on a daring journey through the stars. Their efforts would end the fighting for good, but they’re not without sacrifice. The stakes are even higher than either of them first realized, and the more time they spend together, the more they’re forced to question everything they’d been taught was true."

SO what did I think of the book? I liked it! I compare all space books to the The Illuminae Files because that was the first one I really liked. I thought of Illuminae and Starbound, but by the end the book stood on it's own. The main characters are different and strong but not clichéd.

I really enjoyed this month of Uppercase and can't wait to tell you about May's box!

till next time,
Maggie

Jams of the Week 6/2/17

Wedding season is upon us and two of my favorite humans got hitched this past weekend with a quirky, wonderful ceremony that was totally them. They featured an assortment of artists and songs throughout the day so I thought my first selection would be one of my favorites from the day. Congratulations J & D, you two are blessings to everyone you meet.

Alexi Murdoch - All My Days

****

I listened to "Tied" once and I was singing it the rest of the day.  I tried to find a better quality video but there were none except a few live versions - but I think it's better off the album.

Strangers You Know - Tied

****

You might remember Bad Suns's from their hit "Cardiac Arrest" from a few years ago. I was a fan of that and I'm a fan of this too.

Bad Suns - Daft Pretty Boys

till next time,
Maggie
