Jams of the Week 8/16/17

Howdy and welcome to jams of the week!
Some weeks are easier to get pumped for life than others, and thank God I can pick tunes that help me try to be a happier person. I feel like we could all use a pick me up with the crap 45's been up to this week so here are three upbeat jams to brighten your day too

This song has been on my current playlist and when I watched the video it was about music making you happy...tis perfect.

Galantis - True Feeling

*****

sometimes you just have to tell yourself it's gunna be a good day
(see also, "Good Day" by Nappy Roots or ask Ice Cube)

DNCE - Good Day

Glorious makes me happy for a lot of reasons: Skylar Grey's voice, Mack doing a solo adventure, etc.
but then I saw the music video and I cried a happy kind of happy
which can be amazing

MACKLEMORE FEAT SKYLAR GREY - GLORIOUS

*****

OK I'm sneaking in a fourth jam because this song's music video makes me all kindsa happy

Jams of the Week 3/17/17

Hola and welcome to jams of the week.
It's St. Patrick's day today but I am so so sick the idea of eating corned beef or drinking a beer makes me gag. I've lost my voice and every part of my head feels like someones trying to break it apart. I tried to steam some sickness out in the shower and I slipped and fell...so that's how my days been...

anyways, I have as much energy as I've had in three days and I've slept too much to sleep right now so I figured I'd share my jams of the week

Recently recommended by my pal Chloe is the show Riverdale. So far so good, and the soundtrack is also awesome. Check it out on Spotify if you're so inclined. This track was on here and I forgot how much I love Santigold.

Santigold - Can't Get Enough Of Myself

****

The convo at the beginning of this song makes me listen to it on repeat and now I say to everyone
"Look around bro, look at life!"

KYLE - iSpy (feat. Lil Yachty)     aka LIL BOAT!

"You're damn right I'm right, I can't remember a time I was god-damn wrong"
this video tho...

****

OK, so I'm pretty obsessed with this song / it's message. Michelle Obama would be proud.

Grow Food | Appetite For Change

****

besides for the obvi Dropkick songs, this is my go to St. Patrick's Song.
Sidenote: this is the remix, but I wish it was the original because I hate hate the original which makes no sense.

Irish Celebration - Macklemore & Ryan Lewis (P Smoov Remix)

till next time,
Maggie

Jams of the Week 11/19/16

Howdy and welcome to jams of the week.

First up, a great take on how to wake up the Wednesday after the world lets you down.

Wednesday Morning - Macklemore

****

I have a slight obsession with British rappers...Dizzee Rascal on You've Got the Love? Obsessed. Tinie mentioning J.K Rowling = yaassss. Something about that accent has me hooked.

Girls Like - Tinie Tempah feat Zara Larsson

****

Niall is the best member of 1D, don't even argue.
His solo song is beautiful.

This Town - Niall Horan

honorable mention for the week - Brooklyn, You're Killing Me - Andrew McMahon.
New song from my boo, but I can't decide if I like it or not! So I didn't include it as a true pick this week.

till next time,
Maggie

Jams of the Week 2/29/16

This past week the new Macklemore album This Unruly Mess I've Made came out, and I love it. I chose my four picks to share with you guys this week. Firstly, I know everyone doesn't love the Mack. His music can be weird and random, but it always makes me think. Even when it's as dumb as "Thrift Shop," you at least thought about "getting tricked by a business" and spending patterns. The new album isn't perfect, but so few are. I'll take the silly and weird with the thought provoking.

Firstly, my favorite off Unruly Mess:

Need to Know featuring Chance the Rapper

***

"Let's Eat" is a gem. I love it. Daily process:
"And I really want a donut, shouldn't get a donut/
Bought a donut, fuck it man it's really hard"
Totally accurate.

Let's Eat featuring XP

***

My favorite line on the album:
"I know the devil fancy me/
But that don't mean that motherfucker get to dance with me"

St. Ides

***

Idris Elba agreeing to be on this song is amazing. This song to me is typical silly side Macklemore, bringing us back to "And We Danced."

Dance Off (feat. Idris Elba & Anderson .Paak)

Till next week,
Maggie
