Jams of the Week 2/29/16

This past week the new Macklemore album This Unruly Mess I've Made came out, and I love it. I chose my four picks to share with you guys this week. Firstly, I know everyone doesn't love the Mack. His music can be weird and random, but it always makes me think. Even when it's as dumb as "Thrift Shop," you at least thought about "getting tricked by a business" and spending patterns. The new album isn't perfect, but so few are. I'll take the silly and weird with the thought provoking.

Firstly, my favorite off Unruly Mess:

Need to Know featuring Chance the Rapper

***

"Let's Eat" is a gem. I love it. Daily process:
"And I really want a donut, shouldn't get a donut/
Bought a donut, fuck it man it's really hard"
Totally accurate.

Let's Eat featuring XP

***

My favorite line on the album:
"I know the devil fancy me/
But that don't mean that motherfucker get to dance with me"

St. Ides

***

Idris Elba agreeing to be on this song is amazing. This song to me is typical silly side Macklemore, bringing us back to "And We Danced."

Dance Off (feat. Idris Elba & Anderson .Paak)

Awesome Things - February '16

I don't really know what to title this post, I've done Etsy Gems before but these are from all different places so we're just going with...awesome things...until I figure something out lol.

SO First off I kind of want to wear this kilt. Can girls wear kilts? Are they just skirts then? Either way holy crap do I love it.

TARDIS Kilt!

my windows are suuuper drafty, and Wisconsin don't play when it comes to cold, so I'm thinking of using these door draft blockers on my window ledges. Extra points because they're on sale and look like sonics. You can buy them at ThinkGeek

JK Rowling recently debuted a line of charm bracelets that help benefit her charity LUMOS. These bracelets were released by the Noble Collection (makers of everything HP I can't afford), but you can find them here on Amazon (Prime shipping Woo!). The bracelets are gold plated and set with crystals and have three exclusive charms: a House Crest, the Sorting Hat and a Lumos butterfly.

**

Star Wars has come out with a TON of new products for the Force Awakens. It's impossible to keep up with, and some lines dont really make sense to me. Exhibit A: Chewbacca Uggs?

Interesting.

I started a dangerous game when I figured out Disney has a ton of merch on their website that I need *cough* I mean want. This bag is adorable; I like that it's not too girly with the color choices. There are different special editions of this on eBay that have brighter colors, but this is my favorite

Speaking of awesome bags, ThinkGeek again with the win. A book to hold my books!
There's also a blue backpack version! Imma need both.

If I hadn't just bought all new tableware, these R2D2/C3PO napkins and rings would be mine. Classy droid wear FTW, courtesy of ThinkGeek.

lastly, I blogged before about my love for the Great British Bake Off, but I just found out Ruby Tandoh (Season 4) has her own book now! She was my favorite ever so I can't wait to add this book to my collection. It promises to be easy enough for any anyone but it's the flavors she uses I'm most excited for.

Those are my awesome finds for February, share what you were lovin' on this month in the comments!
Till next time,
Maggie

Jams of the Week - 2/17/16

Hola and welcome to Jams of the Week!

My bff Jenna sent me some recommendations this week, and I loved all three so she's going to be my guest DJ, even if she doesn't know it yet =)
So the first song is Army by the amazing Ellie Goulding. I teared up in Stone Creek Coffee listing to it the first time; its the perfect song to describe my love for my friends. Her new album is fireeeee, go listen to it all!

Army - Ellie Goulding

I wasn't a huge fan of "Ex's & Oh's" but after listing to "America's Sweetheart" I am reconsidering my write off of Elle King. Her voice on the track really shines and it feels like an honest song from her.

Some days country music fits my life and other days I'm like, get out of here rednecks!
Today it works, and so I'll keep Jenna's third pick, Drake White with "Livin' the Dream", because there's nothing more 'Murican than livin' the country dream.

Cosplay of the Day: Yule Ball Hermione

Today I stumbled on a cosplay so awesome I really wanted to share with you. I've been loving all the new takes on Hermione after the Cursed Child casting, and Samantha's Yule Ball Hermione feels like the perfect representation of what that book Hermione would look like.

So, first off, read JK's description and then tell me the following pictures aren't perfect!

"It was Hermione.
But she didn’t look like Hermione at all. She had done something with her hair; it was no longer bushy but sleek and shiny, and twisted up into an elegant knot at the back of her head. She was wearing robes made of a floaty, periwinkle-blue material, and she was holding herself differently, somehow - or maybe it was merely the absence of the twenty or so books she usually had slung over her back. She was also smiling - rather nervously, it was true - but the reduction in the size of her front teeth was more noticeable than ever; Harry couldn’t understand how he hadn’t spotted it before."

Gorgeous! Head on over to her tumblr to check out more, including links to her tutorials on making your own Yule Ball dress.

Till next time,
Maggie

Can I pretend that Hedwig is coming for me with my Hogwarts Letter? By sydniart

I love Hermione's concentration and the awesome colors of the fire. Also the fact that there are books in the Hogwarts library big enough to sit on...  via twiggymcbones

I thought i'd end this roundup with a little tribute to Alan, thanks for making the Harry Potter world a better place, and playing Snape better than anyone ever could.
